Protection and automation cabinets are designed to receive measuring instrument signals from switching devices and other equipment, perform computing operations and organize the protection of high-voltage equipment or electric power transmission lines. The types of protection and the functions performed by the cabinets depend on the design solutions and on the equipment used, protection and control devices.
Relay protection and automation cabinets are used in power plants and transformer substations for protection, signalling and control. Relay protection cabinets are installed at 35~220 kV substations and provide monitoring and control (both local and remote) of the circuit breaker, as well as recording failures, measuring, and transmitting parameters of the electrical system operation values.
